Maria Mattox

Qualifications:

Maria is a graduate level intern with Cutting Edge Counseling. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at DePaul University, with graduation in 2025. Maria earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from DePaul University in 2021.

Specialties:

Maria began her experience in the mental health field as a registered behavior technician working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She gained valuable experience learning from and working with the parent-child interaction therapy team at DePaul Family and Community services. She also spent time working with adolescents in residential treatment for eating disorders at Eating Recovery Center. Working in a variety of settings has strengthened Maria’s knowledge in the mental health field and has provided her with a greater understanding of challenges individuals face.

Maria believes in creating a safe and supportive environment for all of her clients. She values collaboration and creating space for her clients to feel seen and heard.

In her free time, Maria enjoys spending time outdoors, running, and rock climbing. She also loves art, music, and spending time with family.
